Miyake 2315 sleeve really has a dart

This one is for Pao.
Pattern just got here from Canada.

Yes, there's a dart in the middle of the top. Assuming it's to get the sleeve to not slide off the shoulder. Dart made, and then top folded for that fat seam effect.

And to locate this: the piece is at 0

And the dart is that wide centered at 13".
Or 33cm, for you metric folks

And that's the whole picture.

And there is is, not on a grid.
No cheating kids!

  1. Oh my, I just found your post. Bloglovin' had somehow turned off my email alerts from everyone! I was wondering about the radio silence...I was thinking end of the world thoughts perhaps.

Thanks so much for the dart info, I can now re-commandeer piece. However, since I widened the dress components because it was a size M, but left the sleeves alone, I find it won't come together satisfactorily. So, I'm assuming it's not just faulty dart-making on my part, but I probably need to lengthen (not widen) the sleeve to accommodate that amount I added to the dress. It's hard to envision what to do since his design is such genius (and I'm not). At this point in the program, it's been thrown across a chair in the sewing room...

ps ooo, I've never had a "this is for you pao" post. thanks.

    1. Skywriting was not working to alert you.

The dart just gives the top of the sleeve a little ledge for it to hang from your shoulder. There are plenty of issues with this design that make me keep mentally putting the envelope back in the box/the pile/the eBay queue. Now I can put the envelope back in the box in person.

I have developed a Pokemon 'gotta catch em all' problem with Miyake's patterns. I am now down to the ones I don't care for, the ones I will never ever make and the ones I simply cannot afford to buy when I can damn well draft them out for myself. I do have a blog I'm building on this subject, and spent hours last night clipping thumbnails for all the patterns, the ones I have, the ones I don't. And I really am lacking interest in a few of them. There really are eras for that house's work, and I suspect more of my time is going to be frittered away on that angle, than actually sewing them up. Which should be the point.

well, that was wordy....the things I do to avoid hemming grey chiffon

    2. Other than that...it was pretty easy to sew (or pin) together. I didn't need to have it button up on the side. You can easily slip it on over your head. I made it up out of a sheet someone donated to me that's full of Egyptian hieroglyphs with an edging of a winged goddess. So no wasted fabrics and no hemming involved.

I have the same gotta have them all regardless if I really like them syndrome. That gets under control by the ridiculous prices. But somehow I manage to get them for cheap now and again. I have no doubt that I could ever draft them myself. I bow to you on that count. I look forward to your future post.
