Sock Sweater Turned Out Alright

So this went together really quickly once I decided what I wanted to do.

I had to play with the layout to make things fit and get the favorite motifs where I would see them more often.

I used the coverstitch machine to seam the pieces together.
This was a pain in the patootie, but it worked out.

Inside guts

Outside without trim. It looked....like it was missing something

It needs black trim. Like a ringer t shirt.

I have been altering and hemming my t-shirts, so I have an assortment of mostly black 3 to 4 inch circular pieces of prewashed cotton knit for these cuffs and the hem.

I needed to make sure the heart was in the heart spot, so I patched an extra one in the heart spot.

I am a little worried the seaming will fail, but it fits and its comfy (yes I wear a t-shirt under it cause itchy) so I'm test driving it around the house.
I will report later.
I do have many more socks......

Sock sweater and sweater cutting up and remodeling link party (2023)

So the ex had a lot of socks he didn't want and I have a bunch as well

I like the examples of the zig zag stitches used. That and the upcycled sweater article (no free links yet but it's here at https://www.threadsmagazine.com/2020/10/21/how-to-upcycle-a-sweater). I think the latter kinda skipped over the bigger issues with collaging sweaters; the unraveling seam edges.
You know how when you steek a sweater, you stitch down the future seam before you cut the steek?
You don't?

I'd at least machine sew down those edges first. Wool knits will behave, but poly cut edges can explode.

It's a lot of socks to use
Let's get slicing!

I will stitch the heels closed, stack them in a tub and think about them for three years

And finish this post in September of 2026 and post again next week with the finished project.
